Covid-19 PPE Fee

Currently, in compliance with suggestions from the American Dental Association and the Centers for Disease Control, our office will now be using increased amounts of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect patients and staff from the transmission of COVID-19. Some of the new requirements include N95 masks, surgical masks, face shields, gowns, protective equipment for front office staff, protective barriers, and additional disinfection protocols. Due to increased global demand and limited supply, the price of PPE has dramatically increased, to more than 380%. Unfortunately, our practice can only absorb a certain portion of these costs; therefore, all patients are being charged a PPE fee associated with each visit.

At dental offices across the country, this fee can range anywhere from $15 to $40 per appointment. In an effort to make these items available for the benefit and safety of all patients and staff, while also keeping the fee affordable, WE have decided to charge $15 per appointment. This fee will be assessed for an undetermined, certain amount of time.

For patients who have dental insurance, it is important to note that some insurance companies have elected to cover this fee, at least for a limited period of time. We will first submit the fee to all insurances companies for payment. If you have any questions regarding the coverage of the PPE fee, (service code: D1999) please call your specific insurance company for further information.
